> Business Central offers free administrative licenses to Microsoft 365 tenant administrators who perform setup and security tasks. The Internal Administrator and Dynamics 365 Administrator licenses are automatically assigned to Global Administrators and Dynamics 365 Administrators respectively, giving them limited administrative capabilities without purchasing paid licenses.

## Key points

- The Internal Administrator licence is given automatically to Microsoft 365 Global Administrators the first time they open Business Central
- The Dynamics 365 Administrator licence is given automatically to holders of that Microsoft tenant role when they open Business Central
- Both free licences allow limited admin work such as managing users, assigning permissions and creating permission sets; Internal Administrator also has read-only access everywhere
- Running Update users from Microsoft 365 does not create these users; they must sign in via the Business Central URL
- Using these licences avoids paying for IT admin seats and improves segregation of duties

## Context

- Features: Internal Administrator license, Dynamics 365 Administrator license, Licence Configuration page, automatic license assignment, user management, permission management
