## Overview

This section explains compliance from three angles: the application, the cloud service, and certifications. Application Compliance describes how financial reporting, audit trails, and role-based security help with requirements such as data privacy, SOX, IAS/IFRS, and Basel II. Service Compliance and SLA and the Service overview for Business Central online describe the Azure-based service, its certifications, availability, and backups.

Certifications of the service covers country-specific certifications and accreditations, including tax audit compliance. A separate page covers trial features that automatically connect to other Microsoft services, and what data sharing that involves.

Start with Compliance Overview, which indexes the topics. Then go to the page that matches your question: application controls, service reliability and SLA, local certifications, or data sharing in trials.

## Key points

- Application Compliance links regulatory needs (data privacy, SOX, IAS/IFRS, Basel II) to chart of accounts, foreign currency handling, segment reporting, reconciliation, audit trails, and role-based security.
- Certifications of the service covers country-specific certifications, tax audit certification, and local compliance requirements, and mentions ISO 27001.
- Service Compliance and SLA covers ISO and industry-specific certifications, service level agreement terms, and Azure infrastructure security.
- The online service is a multitenant architecture on Azure microservices using Azure SQL Database.
- The service overview cites 99.99% availability, geo-redundant backups, 28-day backups, and automatic restore.
- The service overview says the service is updated twice yearly.
- Trial features can connect automatically to Teams, OneDrive, Power Automate, Azure OpenAI for Copilot, Bing autofill, and the Microsoft Learn Platform.
- You can manage these trial connections, and you should understand the data-sharing implications before use.
