## Overview

This section covers moving an on-premises Business Central deployment to a newer release. Three pages sit at the top level: an overview of upgrading to Business Central (online or on-premises, including help migration and multitenancy migration), a matrix of supported upgrade paths, and a list of known issues for installation, upgrade and operations.

Detailed procedures are split by release. The v26 to v29 subtopics cover upgrade paths, pre-upgrade considerations for v26 and later, the upgrade steps from earlier versions, and installing an update of that version. The v25 subtopic covers upgrade paths, installing a v25 update, report and permission changes, and application and data upgrade steps. Earlier versions (v14 through v24) are grouped in one subtopic. Start with the supported upgrade paths page to see whether your source version can reach the target directly or needs intermediate versions. Then open the subtopic for the target release, read any pre-upgrade considerations, and follow the upgrade steps.
