## Overview

This section collects the Learn pages for upgrading on-premises Business Central to version 24 (2024 release wave 1). It has no subtopics. The upgrade paths depend on your starting point. Unmodified Microsoft System and Base Applications on versions 15-23 follow one PowerShell-based path. - Permissions move from legacy data-based permissions to AL object-based permission sets, using Permission Set and Permission Set Extension objects.
- Report changes from version 20 include a new rendering model, obsoleted events, and custom layout upgrades that affect version 24 and later.
- Version 24 introduces the Business Foundation extension, which provides number series functionality, along with a refactoring of the System Application.
