Overview

The video walks through Chat with Copilot, a chat interface where users filter, sort and search business data in natural language. Demos include finding customer records, working with quotes, checking citations, and asking inventory questions by price range and category.

It also covers admin setup and context-aware features. Admins can manage Copilot on the Copilot and Agent Capabilities page and through a new Copilot permission set. In the chat pane, Copilot can generate analysis tabs, suggest capabilities for the open page (including custom ones from extensions), and use a prompt guide. It also searches Microsoft documentation.

Key points

  • Copilot only accesses records the signed-in user already has access to, and it has no access to bank accounts.
  • Clear the chat when changing context to improve the chance of a good answer.
  • Citation controls show whether an answer came from the Business Central database or Microsoft online documentation, and show the filters and logic applied.
  • The Copilot and Agent Capabilities page lists Copilot and agent functionality in the environment; make sure the chat line is active, and use the action to activate it if not.
  • A Copilot permission set was introduced with update 26. It contains Copilot system features including chat. All users should have it by default, but admins can configure it; if users cannot access chat, a missing assignment is the likely cause.
  • Copilot can generate analysis tabs from a question, and users can add columns such as vendors and substitutes.
  • Copilot recognizes capabilities on the open page, including custom ones from installed extensions, for example suggesting item substitutes on the item substitution page.
