# What's New: Cross Environment Intercompany Posting and Approval for IC General Journals (2023)

## Overview

The 2023 What's New session shows how intercompany partners can now reside in different environments, within one tenant or across tenants. Transactions between the companies are handled by the system without manual file downloads. The session starts with intercompany basics and earlier improvements, then demos a cross environment transaction.

It then walks through setup: the intercompany partner wizard run on both companies in parallel, currency, customer, vendor and bank account configuration, and authentication with a Microsoft Entra app registration. It closes with tips and technical details, including the permission sets involved.

## Key points

- IC partners can now be in different environments, in one tenant or across tenants, with no manual file downloads.
- A new action on the IC partner starts a wizard to set up the connection. The setup is done in both partner companies, can be done in parallel, and includes a test connection step.

- If partners use different currencies, both companies need those currencies enabled locally. Cross environment communication is handled by jobs, and sends run in the name of the user who started the transaction.
