Overview
The video walks through demos of new supply chain capabilities in 2026 release wave 2. It covers subcontracting (comments and attachments on purchase lines, inventory put-away), creating released production orders from the planning worksheet, and manufacturing changes such as dynamic fields for parallel routings and a machine center calendar check.
It then covers transfers: choosing a posting mode for direct transfers, partial shipment, transfer routes with direct transfer mode, in-transit location codes, and inventory put-away and pick for transfers. The last part covers quality inspection roles, auto-assignment, quantity updates and blocking of transfers. The presenter notes that most subcontracting was added in a minor release, with some additions in this one.
Key points
- Planning worksheet: the carry out action message can create production orders in released or released and print status. Automatic consumption happens at released status based on flushing method, so check flushing setup first.
- Subcontracting: comments and attachments flow from the routing to the production order to the purchase order line. Inventory put-away can be used for received subcontracted items, for last and non-last operations; per the demo, serial numbers cannot be specified in the non-last case.
- Direct transfers: you can choose direct posting mode or shipment and receipt mode. Shipment and receipt mode was previously blocked for direct transfers, and it allows partial shipment.
- Transfer routes can specify the direct transfer mode. Defaults come from inventory posting setup and can be overridden per route or transfer document.
- In-transit location code can be used on transfer orders, so item ledger entries get a location code. Together with the manufacturing setup option (from the previous release) that copies location code to value entries linked to capacity ledger entries, blank-location lines in inventory posting setup can be removed.
- Routing: switching type from serial to parallel makes previous and next operation fields visible automatically. The machine center card shows how far calendar entries are available, in red when insufficient, and the calculate machine center calendar report can be run from the card.
- Quality inspection: a failed result blocks transfer orders (items with item tracking). Some fields, such as sample size and passed/failed quantities, need an admin or supervisor role. Modifying a header suggests assigning the inspection to the current user.

Disclaimers in the video
- 0:17 subject-to-change: majority of subcontracting was added in minor release, but we added something in this release as well
