Overview

The video introduces Business Central’s second Copilot capability, bank account reconciliation assistance. A new “Reconcile with Copilot” action on the bank account reconciliations list opens a dialogue where the user picks a bank account, imports a statement file or online feed, and gets matching proposals. The built-in algorithm runs first, and Copilot handles the lines left unmatched, including matching one line to multiple ledger entries.

The demos cover full automatic matching, partial matching with manual review, and transferring unmatched lines to GL accounts using semantic matching. The video then covers availability limits, feature management, Azure OpenAI regional consent, feedback rating, and developer tools used to build the capability.

Key points

  • The feature is in public preview with 2023 release wave 2. It is only available for Business Central online (SaaS) and will arrive in a minor update; minor updates span from November until March 2024, so 23.0 does not include it.
  • Matching order: the built-in algorithm tries the statement lines first, then unmatched lines go to Copilot. Proposals are not saved to the database until the user chooses Keep it.
  • Copilot works best with English bank transactions, and suggestions may perform worse in other languages or with mixed-language descriptions. The feature is not restricted by country localization or user language.
  • Unmatched lines can be transferred to GL accounts. Copilot suggests accounts from the line description and account name semantically. Users can override a suggestion and save description-to-account mappings for later use.
  • When all lines are matched, an option lets the reconciliation post automatically.
  • Admins may need to enable the feature in Feature Management when upgrading, which requires elevated permissions. The Copilot and AI Capabilities page shows active capabilities and the Azure OpenAI connection.
  • If the environment’s region has no Azure OpenAI service, an admin must turn on the switch that allows data movement to a region where it is available.
