Overview
The video explains how to assess what it costs to run a Business Central agent each month. Copilot credits are described as Microsoft’s unified currency for AI usage. Some licenses bundle free credits every month, and more can be obtained through pay-as-you-go billing or by pre-purchasing credits.
The demo opens the agents list, selects an agent and shows consumption data per action, capability and task. It then filters by task number to see all entries of a multi-turn task, and shows the agent tasks list with a total credits column. It closes with the permissions needed to see this data.
Key points
- Copilot credits are Microsoft’s unified currency for AI usage; certain licenses, including Business Central, bundle free credits each month.
- Extra credits can be obtained through pay-as-you-go billing or by pre-purchasing credits.
- Open the agents list, select an agent and use View consumption data to see credits per entry, capability, agent user, action and description. This works for custom-built agents and Microsoft-built agents such as the payables agent and sales order agent.
- The consumption view defaults to one month, with actions for previous/next month, jumping to the current month, and a custom date range; it shows entry count and total credits.
- Credit charges are decided per feature and differ per agent. Example: 50 credits for processing an e-document plus a per-line charge (spoken as ‘5 cents per line’, but the example shows four lines charged 20 credits, i.e. 5 credits per line).
- Click a task number to filter consumption to all entries of a multi-turn task, and follow a link to see all steps the task performed.
- The agent tasks list has a column on the far right showing total credits consumed per task, with drill-down into entries.
