Overview
The video explains how subaccount segments in Dynamics SL map to dimensions in Business Central. In SL, up to eight segments are defined in the flex key definition screen, each with a position and length, and combined with main accounts to record and report financial data. Companies use them to categorize revenue by region and market segment, and expenses by department and project.
It then shows the migration. In the SL company migration configuration tool you choose which segments become global dimensions. The rest become shortcut dimensions. The demo covers general ledger setup, dimension values, and the chart of accounts, where balances are broken out by dimension and can be drilled into.
