Overview
The video covers the makeover of manufacturing reports in Business Central 2025 release wave 1. Reports get Word layouts for printing and Excel layouts for analysis, so users can change them without a developer. Legacy RDL layouts are being phased out.
It demonstrates the updated Production Order VIP report and two new Excel reports. Production Cost Shares replaces four legacy reports and Work/Machine Center Load replaces the legacy work center and machine center load reports. It also covers the legacy reports marked for deprecation and the manufacturing analytics landing page, which is organized by persona.
Key points
- Six updated manufacturing reports are expected in version 26.2 (the presenter says ‘hopefully’), with Word layouts for printing and Excel layouts for analysis. The Excel layouts also include a printable worksheet.
- Users can change Excel and Word layouts themselves without developer tools, which is the reason for deprecating legacy RDL layouts.
- On the Production Order VIP request page you can choose an obsoleted layout, a Word layout or an Excel layout. The Excel layout can be opened in analysis mode, with slicers.
- The new Production Cost Shares Excel report replaces four legacy reports: BOM cost share distribution, rolled up cost shares, detail calculation and quantity explosion of BOM. It has single level, exploded and rolled up worksheets, in printable and non-printable versions.
- The new Work/Machine Center Load Excel report replaces the legacy work center load and machine center load reports. It has two printable and two analysis worksheets.
- A set of legacy manufacturing reports is marked obsolete and will be removed in a later version. They are listed under obsolete reports in the documentation and on the deprecated features page, and a later release wave will update that page with the removal timing.
- The manufacturing analytics landing page at aka.ms/bc manufacturing analytics covers the Power BI manufacturing app, reports and other data viewing options by persona.
