What's new in Sustainability (2026 release wave 2)
Sustainability changes in the 2026 release wave 2: formulas in purchase orders and invoices, value chain emissions in item and fixed asset journals, scope three tracking by item tracking level, sustainability ledger reversal for journal entries, and collect from GL that remembers what was posted.
- Formulas and entry discovery improvements
- Value chain emissions and scope three tracking
- Setup overview and formula configuration
- Purchase order demo with formulas and fixed assets
- Sales order and item journal demo with item tracking
- Item reclassification and service order demo
- Sustainability ledger reversal functionality
- Fixed asset emissions and collect from GL improvements
Overview
The video walks through what’s new in Business Central Sustainability for 2026 release wave 2. It covers setup and formula configuration, then demos in a purchase order, a sales order, the item journal, item reclassification and a service order.
It then covers reversing sustainability ledger entries and the fixed asset changes: emissions columns in journals and an improved collect amount from GL. UDR certificate capture is mentioned, with details left to a separate video.
Key points
- Sustainability formulas now work in purchase order and purchase invoice, so emissions can be calculated as in journals. In the demo, the formula for an account based on distance lets you change distance and the installation multiplier on the order line, but not fuel or customer amount, and the line recalculates.
- Value chain emissions are now available in item journals, item reclassification journals, fixed asset reclassification journals and service management.
- Scope three can be tracked at item tracking level. You choose an average or specific method on the item card, and the demo tracks different emissions by lot and serial number.
- The ESG report layout can print information per lot (emission basis details by item tracking). The transcript calls it ‘ECG’, which likely means ESG.
- Sustainability ledger entries can be reversed with a standard reverse transaction button, as for general ledger entries. This works only for entries created through journals, not for entries posted through documents.
- Collect amount from GL now remembers what was already posted and suggests only the remaining amount. When everything is posted, it suggests zero. Date filters still control the suggested period.
- Fixed asset journals gain sustainability columns, including sustainability account and total CO2. Fixed asset reclassification can split CO2 by a reclassify CO2 percentage, the same way as acquisition cost.

A status with a roadmap link comes from the Microsoft 365 roadmap feature this part of the video covers (matched by Haiku; links Opus dropped are not used); other statuses need a status word in the video itself.

Quotes
- 0:06 “if you used formulas before, now good news, it will be also available in the purchase order and purchase invoice”
- 0:59 “for the scope three, now you will be able to track it based on the item tracking level”
- 1:37 “you have a regular reverse button like for the general ledger entries, so you can do the reverse in the same way”
- 1:48 “now it can remember what you already posted and it will suggest you just the remaining part to post”
- 10:15 “it doesn’t allow it because it was posted through the documents. So, it is the same limitations as for the reverse in the general”
- 11:43 “you have reclassify co2 percentage so it will work in the same way as a acquisition cost”
- 13:07 “it is zero because system already knows that you posted everything, and now it’s not suggesting you to post anything”
