Overview

Workflows connect business-process tasks in Business Central through two routes: Power Automate flows and approval workflows built from built-in templates. Workflows involve workflow events and workflow responses. Power Automate flows can be triggered by events such as a record being created or changed.

Start with the “Workflows in Dynamics 365 Business Central” page for the overall picture. Then read “Use Power Automate flows in Business Central” if you need event-triggered automation through the Power Automate connector. That page covers automated, approval, scheduled and instant flows.

The “Use approval workflows” subtopic (6 pages) covers day-to-day approval work. Users send, approve, reject, delegate and cancel requests. Admins enable and delete workflows, restrict records, and review archived workflow step instances.
