Overview

This section lists the standard reports available for project management in Business Central. The Project Reports page is the entry point. It describes the reporting tools for analyzing current and past project activity and points to the Report Explorer. The other pages each describe one report, its filters and what it shows.

The reports fall into a few groups. Quotes: Job Quote and Job Task Quote. Financial analysis: Project Actual to Budget, Project Analysis, Project WIP to G/L, Project Suggested Billing and Projects per Customer. Detail and planning: Project Planning Lines, Project Task Transaction Detail, Items per Project and Project per Item. Registers and journals: Project Journal - Test and Project Register. Resource reports: Resource - List, Resource Register, Resource - Cost Breakdown, Resource Statistics and Resource Utilization.

Start with Project Reports to get the overall picture, then open the page for the report you need to check its filters and fields. Several reports let you choose the currency.

Key points

• Job Quote produces a customer-facing quote for a project. It can be filtered by project number, planning date and project task, and it leaves out budget-type lines.
• Job Task Quote produces a quote for a single project task. It shows billable planning lines and the total project value, and leaves out budget lines.
• Project Actual to Budget compares scheduled and used amounts (quantity, total cost, line amount). Project Analysis compares schedule, usage, contract and invoiced amounts through selectable amount fields.
• Project Suggested Billing lists invoiced and remaining-to-invoice amounts by customer. Projects per Customer groups projects by bill-to customer and shows scheduled price, completion percentage and invoiced amounts, with subtotals.
• Project WIP to G/L compares the work in process value on selected projects with the amount posted in the general ledger.
• Items per Project and Project per Item give item overviews with accumulated cost values and support custom filtering.
• Project Register can be set to print automatically when you post from project journal templates. Project Journal - Test shows journal lines, optionally with dimensions.
• Resource reports: Cost Breakdown (new page per resource, posting date filter), Statistics (usage and sales amounts, percentage invoiced), Utilization (capacity, usage and balance in base unit of measure), List and Register.

• Project WIP to G/L (report): Get an overview of the status of ongoing projects in your company’s financial statements.
• Projects per Customer (report): Get an overview list of all projects, with focus on scheduled price, percentage of completion, and invoiced amounts for each customer.
• Resource - Cost Breakdown (report): Analyze the costs and incurred costs for each project resource in a period.
• Resource – List (report): Analyze resource data to ensure it’s accurate and up-to-date.
• Resource Register (report): Document a resource register’s contents for internal or external audits.
• Resource Statistics (report): Analyze usage and sales amounts for each resource and check the percentage invoiced on your projects.
• Resource Utilization (report): Analyze capacity and usage for each project resource for a prior period and check the balance remaining to determine if each resource was under or over utilized.
