Overview

The video extends value chain automation, introduced for embedded carbon footprint in a previous wave, to projects. Emissions can be posted from project journals or from purchase invoices that carry a project number, which supports end-to-end scope three coverage.

The demo covers the sustainability configuration, posting a project journal, and reviewing results in project statistics. Value chain tracking is switched on with one field in the procurement fast tab of Sustainability Setup. The presenter notes that it works only with carbon equivalent, not with all gases.

Key points

  • Value chain tracking is enabled with a single field in the procurement fast tab of the Sustainability Setup page; emissions are then calculated and tracked automatically.
  • Emissions can be posted through a project journal or a purchase invoice that has a project number.
  • Posting a purchase invoice for a project generates two lines: a purchase line and a negative adjustment entry that goes into sustainability value entries.
  • Items have a sustainability fast tab for a standard account number and a default CO2 emissions number, and the system calculates total CO2.
  • Resources have a sustainability fast tab for adding accounts and default CO2 emission numbers.
  • Posted information is exposed on project statistics and task lines, which show the calculations for everything posted to the project.
  • The feature works only with carbon equivalent; other gas emissions are converted to carbon equivalent for the value chain.

  • 1:51 “It is important to remember it doesn’t work with all gases only with the carbon equivalent.”
  • 2:04 “So you can post emissions using project journal or purchase invoice. When you post purchase invoice for project you know you will get two”
  • 2:16 “It will be once when you uh finish where information will be exposed on a project statistic.”
