About
This is an unofficial map of the Business Central Launch Event - 2026 release wave 2: 38 videos Microsoft published on 2026-10-01 on the Dynamics 365 Business Central YouTube channel. It was built by waldo (Eric Wauters, Business Central MVP) because seven hours of launch video is a lot, and because a release should be navigable by humans and by LLM agents alike.
How it was built
The YouTube auto-captions were cleaned into timestamped segments. Claude extracted, per video, a summary, chapters, features with the sentence that proves their status, quotes (validated against the transcript, dropped when not found), and disclaimer moments. Features were merged across videos, matched against Microsoft's documented features for the wave, and everything was rendered as markdown with frontmatter and as this site. The whole pipeline, the cache that makes it reproducible, and the data are in the repository. Point an LLM at its AGENTS.md.
Limitations
- Auto-captions: names of presenters and products are sometimes wrong (the captions write "co-pilot", "EL query", "shop a fight").
- Status follows the launch event rule: a feature shows as GA unless the presenters said otherwise. Where nothing was said, the feature page says so and the docs column tells you what Microsoft wrote; the data keeps the distinction as
status_source. - Feature boundaries and airtime come from a language model reading the transcript; they are approximations, not measurements.
- The docs matching is done by a language model with keyword candidates and reviewed by hand over time, see
data/release-plan/overrides.json. - Docs checked on 2026-10-02. "Not documented" means not on Microsoft's what's new pages for the wave on that date. Microsoft keeps filling the documentation after the launch event, and a feature can be described in the product documentation without its own what's new item, so these conclusions age. The date is
release_plan.fetched_atin the data.
Privacy
No cookies. Visits are counted with GoatCounter, which sets no cookies and stores no personal data: the page, the referrer, browser and screen size, and the country. It also counts searches on the Ask page and clicks on YouTube timestamps, so I can see which features people look for. No other external requests except YouTube links and thumbnails. The optional API key on the Ask page stays in your browser.
Content notice
This repository is an unofficial community project by waldo (Eric Wauters). It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or maintained by Microsoft.
What the transcripts are
The files under data/transcripts/ are the automatic YouTube captions of the public
videos of the "Business Central Launch Event - 2026 release wave 2", published by
Microsoft on the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central YouTube channel on 2026-10-01.
- They are machine generated. Expect transcription errors, missing punctuation, wrong product names and misspelled presenter names.
- Nobody at Microsoft reviewed them. Nothing here is an official statement about the product, its roadmap or its availability.
- Every derived page (summaries, feature pages, reports, the site) links back to the exact second in the original video. The video is the source, this repository is the index.
Who owns what
- The videos and their captions are Microsoft's content. They are reproduced here only to make the public launch event searchable and navigable, with attribution and deep links on every page.
- The code (pipeline, site, scripts, workflows) is MIT licensed, see
LICENSE. - The summaries and feature pages were generated by a language model from the captions and are provided as-is.
Private versus public
While this repository is private, the full cleaned transcripts live in
data/transcripts/full/ and the raw captions in data/transcripts/raw/.
Before it goes public, scripts/strip-for-public.sh removes the full transcripts, the
raw captions, the LLM cache (which contains transcript text) and the full-text search
passages. What remains are summaries, feature pages and short quotes of at most 30
words, each with a link to the moment in the video where it is said.
