Overview
The video walks through financial management improvements in the 2024 release wave 1. It covers GL account currency settings with revaluation, a first batch of Excel reports, consolidation improvements, accounts receivable and collection features, recurring journal changes, and currency support for employee ledgers.
The Excel reports carry a preview tag because changes and small improvements are expected. The presenter says the GL currency code and employee ledger currency features came from BC Ideas.
Key points
- GL account card: you can specify accepted currencies per account: local only, multiple currencies, or any currency. A toggle controls revaluation, and entries can go to realized or unrealized adjustment accounts. An adjustment batch job creates revaluation entries that can be reviewed before posting.
- Eight Excel reports are in the first batch: trial balances, aged receivables, aged payables, and top lists for customers and vendors. They have a preview tag, 12 more are in progress, and the full list is 25 to 30 reports.
- Excel reports hold aggregated data, not a full database copy. Detailed data (for example GL entries, customer ledger entries) is planned for minor releases, and data volume has restrictions and limitations.
- Consolidation lets you look up exchange rates during runs. You can recover from mistakes by picking rates from a previous consolidation run.
- A new collection management role center for the accounts receivable administrator has cues for outstanding invoices and balances. Reminders can have email text tailored per level and can be created, issued and sent through automation.
- Recurring journals using the fixed method can keep zero-amount lines. Zero lines are ignored when posting, not posted as zero.
- Employee ledgers can now post in a selected currency, like customer and vendor ledgers, and balances can be adjusted. Earlier support was local currency only.
