Overview

This section holds one subtopic per release, from Business Central spring 2019 (v.14) to 2024 release wave 1 (version 24). Each subtopic is a self-contained set of upgrade pages for that target version, so pick the one that matches the version you are upgrading to.

Key points

  • Each release has its own upgrade set: v.14 (spring 2019), 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24.
  • Subtopics list the supported upgrade paths to that version, for example versions 14 through 22 for version 23, and C/AL (version 14) or versions 15-23 for version 24.
  • Later releases cover technical upgrade steps, with separate paths for unmodified and customized C/AL from version 14 (shown for version 21).
  • C/AL to AL conversion is covered, with Txt2Al named in the version 17 and 19 pages.
  • Moving tables and fields between extensions is covered, with migration.json named in the version 16, 17 and 19 pages.
  • Most subtopics include a compatibility matrix for upgrade paths and minimum versions, and several cover installing cumulative updates for that version.
  • Permission set and report changes are covered in the later releases, and the version 19 pages add the India data migration toolkit.
  • The spring 2019 (v.14) pages cover technical upgrade, code merging, single-tenant and multitenant data upgrade, and codeunit 1 replacement.
