Overview
The video covers what changed for drop shipments in 2026 release wave 1. Before, posting had a fixed order: receipt or shipment first, then the sales invoice, then the purchase invoice. Now purchase and sales operations can be processed independently.
It also covers new ways to create drop shipment purchase documents, drop shipment demand in order planning, and a get order lines function for invoices connected to multiple orders or receipts. Demos cover posting receipt and invoice together, the receipt on invoice toggle on purchase invoices, and undoing a drop shipment shipment.
Key points
- Previously the order was fixed: post receipt/shipment, then sales invoice, then purchase invoice. In 2026 wave 1 the sales and purchase invoices can be posted in either order, so the purchase side can be handled independently of the sales side.
- Drop shipment purchase documents can now also be created from the sales order page (Actions > Functions > Create Purchase Document > Create Purchase Order), the order planning page, or the planning worksheet. Before, only the requisition worksheet (Get Sales Orders) or one-by-one creation from a purchase order was available.
- The order planning page now includes drop shipment lines when calculating sales demand. The planning worksheet has a new drop shipment group with a get order lines action.
- A drop shipment purchase order can be posted as receipt and invoice in one step, and the shipment is updated automatically.
- Get order lines is a more elaborate replacement for get receipt lines, for example when an invoice is connected to multiple orders or receipts.
- If the receipt on invoice toggle is turned on in the invoice details of the drop shipment purchase order, you can post a purchase invoice built with get order lines. The purchase order is then shown as received and invoiced without being posted manually.
- Undo shipment now works for drop shipments. In the demo it was used on the shipment not yet invoiced on the purchase side, which returned the item to the vendor so it could be processed again.
