Built-in production reports

Built-in production reports in Business Central cover BOM cost and structure, production order costs and status, capacity and routing, shortages, subcontracting, and item labels. It answers which report shows a given manufacturing figure, what it filters on, and what it contains.

Overview

This section lists the standard reports available for manufacturing analysis. An entry page, Production Reports and Analytics, introduces the Report Explorer, work center load analysis and item availability. The other pages each describe one report.

The reports group by purpose. Cost reports include BOM Cost Share Distribution, Prod. Order Detailed Calc, Production Order - WIP and Production Order Statistics. Structure reports include Quantity Explosion of BOM and Where-Used (Top Level). Planning and shop floor reports include Capacity Task list, Prod. Order - Job Card, Precalc. Time, Shortage List, Routing Sheet, Subcontractor - Dispatch List and Item - Able to Make (Time). Production Order - List is Excel-based, and Output Item Label produces labels.

Learn pages

  • BOM Cost Share Distribution (report): This report helps you decide whether to change component suppliers, or replace internal resources with outsourced labor (or vice versa). It also helps you review and modify an item’s bill of materials.
  • Capacity Task list (report): Analyze the capacity of work centers or machine centers.
  • Item - Able to Make (Time) (report): Check whether you can fulfill a sales order for an item by a specified date. Look at its current availability in combination with quantities that its components can supply if someone starts an assembly order.
  • Output Item Label report: Print barcode and QR code labels for manufacturing output items, including item details and serial, lot, or package tracking numbers.
  • Prod. Order - Job Card (report): Explore the details of the components and operations for a production order.
  • Prod. Order - Precalc. Time (report): Helps plan and schedule production activities by estimating the time needed to complete each production order based on factors such as work centers, machine centers, and routing information.
  • Prod. Order - Shortage List (report): Identify components that will be short on production orders by comparing scheduled needs against inventory, receipts, and other demand.
  • Prod. Order Detailed Calc (report): Get a comprehensive analysis of the costs associated with production orders broken down to costs by material, capacity, overhead, and other cost components.
  • Production Order - List (report): Get an Excel-based overview of production orders across their lifecycle, including status, item, source, location, and key dates.
  • Production Order - WIP (report): Helps you track the costs of the production process.
  • Production Order Statistics (report): Analyze your actual costs and variance from expected cost for production orders to make key decisions about your production execution and its effect on costs.
