Overview

The Sales section describes the day-to-day sales workflow. You register customers with a Customer Card, make quotes, convert them to orders or invoices, ship in full or in part, and post. After posting, you can correct or cancel invoices, process returns and credit memos, and track packages.

Key points

  • Start with ‘Overview of tasks to manage sales’, which links to the detailed task guides.
  • Customer setup: create Customer Cards, use customer templates, manage credit limits and overdue warnings, and merge duplicates (needs the MERGE DUPLICATES permission set).
  • Order types: sales quotes, sales orders, blanket orders, drop shipments, special orders, and recurring sales lines with a batch job for invoices.
  • Shipping: the Shipping Advice field controls partial shipments; delivery dates use shipping time and warehouse handling time; ATP and CTP calculate order promising dates.
  • Invoicing: you can combine shipments on one invoice, set up and invoice prepayments, and enter external document numbers (not checked for uniqueness).
  • Posting and corrections: posting options include preview, post and send, and batch posting. The Cancel and Correct actions fix unpaid posted invoices before shipment is complete.
  • Returns: use sales return orders or credit memos, with replacement orders, restock charges, and item charges.
  • Subtopics: Sales analytics (61 pages) covers the Power BI Sales app and sales reports. Subscription billing (47 pages) covers recurring billing for contracts.
